Press Release: Weaverville Mobile Home Burns
Early on the morning of November 14, 2011, firefighters from Weaverville, Douglas City and Lewiston Fire Departments responded to a single wide trailer fire at 303 North St space #13. Upon arrival of the first Weaverville Fire Department units they found heavy fire coming from the rear of the trailer and heavy black smoke coming from the front. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire within 10 minutes of arrival and reported nobody inside the unit. Douglas City Fire Department assisted Weaverville FD with overhaul of the fire.
The fire caused $10,000 damage to the structure, with another $6,000 damage to contents. The owner of the mobile home had left about two weeks ago. Neighbors heard popping coming from the trailer; when they went to investigate they found heavy smoke coming from inside the structure.
The fire is under investigation but appears to be accidental in nature.
